Started from the repository with Docker Compose. No Node, PostgreSQL or Redis is needed on the machine.

Development is paused for now. The code, images and docs stay available, but do not expect new features or quick fixes.

  1. Get the files

    $ git clone https://github.com/selfhostr/dmsforall.git && cd dmsforall
  2. Set the settings, optional

    The defaults work for a first try on localhost. For a server with a domain name, set DFA_SITE_ADDRESS and DFA_PUBLIC_URL.

    $ cp .env.example .env
  3. Start the stack

    The images come from ghcr.io/selfhostr. The first start generates the database passwords, applies the migrations, then starts the API and the worker. Open http://localhost:8080.

    $ docker compose up -d
  4. Create the first garage

    The command is still being delivered and its exact form is not final. Follow Set up your first garage.

The complete install has not been run end to end on a clean machine with a real domain. Over plain HTTP the session cookie works on localhost only: use a domain name with HTTPS for anything else. Details are in the docs.

Requirements

  • Docker with Compose v2
  • For HTTPS on a server: a domain name and open ports 80 and 443
  • Disk space for the database, the backups and the uploaded documents

Versions and images

  • VersionPre-release, no release published yet
  • Imagesghcr.io/selfhostr/dmsforall, ghcr.io/selfhostr/dmsforall-web
  • Image tagsX.Y.Z, X.Y, latest, edge (last build of the dev branch)

Support the project

Every selfhostr project is free and has no company behind it. If one saves you time, a donation pays for the test hardware and for the time it takes.
